Information for healthcare professionals

*We are open 9am – 5pm during school term times

If you are a healthcare professional and you have encountered a patient who you think might benefit from professional physical or emotional support, then please get in touch. You may have a patient who feels reluctant, or even nervous about the prospect of face-to-face sessions talking to a stranger, and the situation seems hopeless!!

Please consider contacting us in complete confidence for an informal conversation as we have many ways to help individuals overcome their concerns about talking to ‘a Counsellor’ or ‘Therapist’. We welcome any of your patients whether they have a diagnosis or not, our criteria is only that someone is not feeling 100%, and that you as a professional healthcare provider have identified that they might benefit from support from a non-judgemental, qualified and empathetic Mentor. Spending time in nature and with animals can have the most astonishingly positive impacts on health.

Please have a look at our testimonials, especially the ones by Gracie and Ruby, which both outline how our Mentors used their deep understanding of their individual concerns, travelled to the clients houses over a period of weeks, which eventually led to that both clients developed the confidence to come to our centre to experience our full-service offering.

We also welcome you to visit us to meet our full human and animal team and see for yourself how we work.  We are unique in this area of Somerset in our offering of totally bespoke, person centred, nature and animal assisted therapeutic support. All our emotional work is based on Trauma Informed principles and practitioners have gone through training by Trauma Informed Schools, Thrive Approach and Forest School to various levels. We also have specialist Practitioners offering Play Therapy, Theraplay, PAWES animal therapy, cookery, art, music and various active sports which assist in our experiential learning sessions.

For wheelchair users or anyone in need of physical/gymnastic therapeutic support, our work with our therapy horses and specialist facilities, offers a comprehensive range of options to make remarkable differences to many.  Please see our testimonials by Claire and Wilf who explain this very well.

FYI we also have a full changing places lavatory and shower facility on site.

Helpful information about our work:

  • We are registered as an Alternative Provider with Somerset County Council SCC
  • Have a look at our facilities page to see the comprehensive list of facilities we offer.
  • Our work with young people who find mainstream education limiting, is essentially to provide an environment that removes the barriers to learning and working towards improved wellbeing.  Sessions are structured to offer experiential learning, working with nature and the animals and to explore alternative thoughts on why eg; healthy eating, maths and hygiene are important life skills.  Many students successfully return to mainstream education, or go on to feel confident to apply for further education or employment.
  • Mentors are trained in Trauma Informed principles and offering young people positive connections, non-judgemental trusting relationships and emotionally available adults.

  • For younger children and those with developmental delay syndrome, Thrive Approach is a positive support approach alongside our nature and animal based therapeutic work. The proven benefits of Biophilia (working with nature and animals) plays a significant part in the success of our work.
  • Play is essential for development.  As an alternative to talking therapies Play Therapy  helps children explore and express their thoughts and feelings and to make sense of their life experiences through play and the creative arts. Play therapy can benefit all children, but it is particularly beneficial for children who find it hard to express themselves verbally.
