Our Story

The beginnings...

Conquest Centre first opened it’s doors in 1965 when the founders purchased two ponies (Adam & Eve) to offer riding sessions to the disabled residents at Curland.

Thirty years later the charity moved to the current location, Conquest Farm in Norton Fitzwarren, just outside Taunton in Somerset.

What next...

Originally set up as a RDA centre (Riding for Disabled) the charity stayed connected with RDA until 2017 when it resigned as a full member and took on the Accessibility Mark meaning it could continue to offer RDA riding sessions whilst adopting a more agile  approach.

This expanded remit offered the flexibility to work with a broader spectrum of animals such as donkeys, sheep and goats etc in support of the expanding modalities for improved mental health and wellbeing.
