The Conquest Centre carriage driving group is run by Driving Coach Barbara Nadin. Barbara has won the coveted title of Supreme Champion at the Indoor driving finals, has taken the Open Horse Champion title four years in succession, and won the Veteran Champion title in 2008 before her retirement from driving at the end of the 2008 season. She now coaches drivers of all abilities at Conquest Centre, using our two dedicated driving ponies, Bella and Solly.

Carriage driving is open to all, however it can be particularly beneficial for those who can no longer ride due to a disability, or for those who would prefer a non-ridden challenge. Drivers progress in the same way as riders with similar benefits:

  • Improved co-ordination
  • Improved muscle power
  • Improved balance
  • Relaxation through rhythmic movement
  • Being out in the open air

Some of the non-physical benefits are also similar including:

  • Decision making
  • Achievement
  • Self-confidence
  • Making friends and having fun

Some of our regular drivers are able to take part in competitions.  Please get in touch if you would like more information about joining our driving group.
